Located in the Central Otago Winebasin
Our vineyard is located on a plateau near Clyde, Central Otago, in New Zealand’s most southerly sub region, the Alexandra Basin, which boasts its own unique microclimate and terroir. There are 360 degree mountain views and the outlook is spectacular!
A mix of Pinot Noir clones which include UCD5, 114, 115, 667, 777 and Abel, all on grafted rootstock, sit on gently sloping north-easterly slopes. The unique ‘Brassknocker’ soil is glacially deposited and has a very high quartz content. This helps reflect heat during the day and assist with heat retention during the night.
Wild thyme proliferates in and around the vineyard, adding to the aromatic complexity of the wine that is produced.
